One of our fastest-growing shule programs is the Community Service Club, now in its third great year. This club gives our Hey class graduates and other youngsters a way to stay connected to the program and to the Jewish community, engage in important social action initiatives, and earn service credits.

As you all know, community service does not have to take a lot of time to make a huge difference to someone in need. Below is a partial list of ways to earn community service hours at the shule.

• Chanukah Toy Drive
• Thanksgiving Food Drive
• rockCANroll
• set up for Purim Carnival and run a booth/ game
• Holocaust Remembrance Walk
• Help younger classes with Hamantashen Baking and Chocolate Matzah Day
• Make You Tube videos to educate people about the projects you have worked on.

Many of our students incorporate these or their own service projects into preparation for a Bar or Bas Mitzvah ceremony. Of course, charity and caring for others are core elements of being Jewish and the Community Service Club provides students a way to practice these values under the guidance of experienced and caring educators.
